When the World Paused (COVID 19)

Lockdowns, Quarantine, and Check Points

The COVID-19 pandemic struck the island of Cebu with deep and far-reaching consequences. Strict quarantines and citywide lockdowns brought daily life to a halt, while checkpoints between communities restricted travel and access to essential services.

Hospitals were overwhelmed as cases surged and many families mourned the loss of loved ones to the virus. Economic shutdowns led to food shortages, loss of work, and increased hardship in both urban and rural areas.

Through it all, the resilience of the Cebuano people remained evident as communities supported one another, adapted to new realities, and continued pressing forward with hope.
